As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I recognize one of the greatest events in modern history as the appearance of the Father and the Son to Joseph Smith Jr. in a Grove of trees in the Spring of 1820. The experience is commonly referred to as the First Vision. It was an answer to the prayer of a 14-year-old boy seeking forgiveness of his sin and seeking direction and truth. Joseph Smith Jr. became the first prophet of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ, as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
This image represents the moment when the Father and the Son appeared to Joseph Smith and revealed light and truth. From that moment on we have had a living prophet to guide us and help us know God’s will for us. The current Prophet of the restoration is President Russell M. Nelson.
In these challenging times of COVID-19 President Nelson has been a stable voice of calm and gratitude for the blessings that we do have. I am grateful for a leader with a perspective beyond just today or even beyond this life.
