Morning Field Walk
This morning’s walk at Graham Creek resulted in several observations and collected materials used directly for pattern development.
- Discovered a pitcher plant form not previously documented in my reference set.
- Noted newly sprouting pitcher plants clustered close to the ground.
- Collected several small broken branches with attached leaves for photography and pattern use.

Source Material Collection
The collected branches were photographed individually on a white background to allow for clean isolation and later use as motifs. Variations included:
- Green leaves with natural spotting
- Dried or browning leaves with muted tones
- Multiple branching angles suitable for repeat layouts
These photographs were treated as raw source material rather than finished artwork.

Pattern Development
Using the photographed branches as reference, a magnolia leaf pattern was developed with simplified silhouettes and a scattered repeat structure. The focus was on clarity of form, even spacing, and wallpaper suitability.
Two versions of the pattern were finalized:
- Dropped Magnolia Leaves-01: A layered version with subtle depth and texture.
- Dropped Magnolia Leaves-02: A simplified version using flatter silhouettes for a quieter surface.
Both versions maintain the same underlying repeat logic and scale.

Colorway Development
The pattern was released in multiple colorways, including four drawn from Benjamin Moore Color Trends 2026:
- Universal Khaki
- Warm Eucalyptus
- Hidden Gem
- Silhouette
A neutral Cream colorway was also developed.
Promoted color names were reserved for titles and descriptions, while common color terms were used for keywords to maintain platform compliance.

Spoonflower Preparation
Each pattern version and colorway was prepared for Spoonflower with:
- SEO-forward titles under character limits
- Clear, product-focused descriptions
- Strictly compliant keyword sets
Simplified patterns were numbered as -02 to distinguish them as a version rather than a separate design.
Instagram Presentation
Instagram assets were created to demonstrate real-world use and material quality. The preferred carousel order was established as:
- Living room vignette (hero image)
- Flat repeat crop
- Bathroom vignette
- Rolled wallpaper detail
- Lower-wall scale view (optional)
Captions were written to emphasize what the pattern is, how it is used, and where it fits stylistically, without promotional language.

Notes
This entry documents a complete workflow from field observation to finished surface pattern and platform-ready listings. Any future revisions should note changes in scale, color, or version numbering to maintain continuity across releases.
